VOICE TRUST was registered in 1997 to enhance the well being of the rural people living in relatively isolated and sparsely populated areas in southern Tamil Nadu.
In the course of time, our trust realized the significance of ensuring community health in all rural areas of the district besides social and economic development initiatives. Consequently, our trust focused mainly on health care of marginalized deprived, suppressed communities in village and hamlets where medical facilities are not available. The trust is now a well established Health care organization recognized by the government, hospitals and distraught downtrodden communities.
I am happy to share with you. I also take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been a part of `Voice’ throughout the year to make the impossible possible. It was my personal experience with some of the leading corporate hospitals in the region that made me realise that the people in villages around Madurai lacked in health awareness to a great extent, which was the reason behind my endeavour to start a trust and work towards the same in the year 1997.
This scheme is under implementation since 1989-90, and has come to this Department along with the National Wastelands Development Board. The development of non-forest wastelands is taken up under this Scheme. The scheme provides for the development of an entire micro watershed in an holistic manner rather than piecemeal treatment in sporadic patches.
